Responsibilities:

  • Manage various tax related schedules and monitor the dissemination of data that is utilized in the preparation of the income tax provision.

  • Manage tax depreciation and amortization schedules.

  • Review of stock compensation schedules to determine proper treatment in the tax provision modeling.

  • Review quarterly general ledger tax account reconciliations and tax accrual account analysis.

  • Develop tax positions after research has been conducted by the team to ensure that Company minimizes its income tax expense through tax planning ideas.

  • Assist with internal control documentation in a SOX environment.

  • Preparation of various income tax disclosures for SEC filings.

  • Support the income tax return compliance process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience required

  • Recent experience working with Tax Provisions

  • Experience with a Big 4 or public accounting firm preferred

  • Thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and research skills

Position Summary

The Tax Manager is responsible for managing the complex tax return compliance process and special projects associated with the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of all or specifically assigned tax returns and related reports. Additionally, they will manage the quarterly and year-end income tax provision function.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting / Preparation

  • Manage the overall process in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns and tax payments of the Company group. Including all related reports that are used in the apportionment factors

  • Manage various tax related schedules and monitor the dissemination of data that is utilized in the preparation and filing of income tax returns from various corporate divisions within the Company

  • Manage federal and state income tax audits and state inquiries. Additionally, draft responses to tax notices and coordinate the audit.

  • Manage the team’s involvement in the year-end financial statement audit process to ensure that audit responses are timely and accurately provided

  • Manage the preparation of the income tax provision for federal, state and international jurisdictions.

Reconciliation /Analysis

  • Review monthly general ledger tax account reconciliations and tax accrual account analysis

Research / Resolution

  • Develop tax positions after research has been conducted by the team to ensure that Company minimizes its income tax expense through tax planning ideas

  • Make recommendations to resolve tax issues while weighing risks

Processes / Procedures

  • Maintain and continue to improve knowledge of federal, state, international and local tax rules and regulations

  • Manage the overall Abandoned and Unclaimed Property procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports

Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Travel and Driving are not essential duties or functions of this job

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: (Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Accounting, Finance, or equivalent job-related experience

  • 5+ years of experience in tax with at least 2-3 years of “Big 4” experience preferred

  • Experience within the corporate tax department of a large multi-national corporation is a plus

  • Experience with computer tax software, dealing with the IRS and/or other state taxing authorities is required

  • Experience with consolidated/combined federal and state tax return issues is required

  • CPA license or advanced degree is a plus

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to federal and state tax code

  • General knowledge of GAAP accounting

  • Solid tax and accounting skills

  • Ability to make oral presentations

  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills

  • Analytical and research Skills

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong prioritization skills

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
