Summary

Director, Data Governance

As Advantage Solutions transforms the way we do business, we are looking to hire an IT Director, Data Governance to drive our efforts across Data Governance council definition/activation and Data Quality - approach, design and implementation all in support of the D&A strategy for Advantage and for their clients. This role will oversee ensuring we deliver one successful- high quality version of the truth across all functional areas of data – ensuring we centralize our approach to Data Governance through organizational and Data Quality capabilities that drive consistency and reuse of business rules that enable speed and scalability across all areas of Data & Analytics as we deliver our Enterprise data foundation for all data products. This mature role requires a deep understanding of business concepts and rules and how they relate to effective data management & BI that solves business challenges for non-technical people, and various stages of Analytics. The ideal candidate will be a deep subject matter expert in data design principles and participation in the lifecycle of data quality & governance in a data-mature organization. This key leader will educate and bring along a broader audience on the data maturity journey. They will also be adept at informing on the technical and data solutions required, while executing the Enterprise data and Analytics strategy. This role will influence Business partners, Product leads and E2E Solution architects in leading inquiry-based capabilities that cross functional silos – bringing to life a business-needs-based data centric capability across the Enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Highly experienced with executing a comprehensive cross functional data centric delivery in Governance and Data quality that is “built once, serves many” in nature.

  • Serve as the single point of accountability for Data Governance, Data Quality & Data Catalog across all business functions of data – creating and delivering a single, data-centric solution to deliver across needs.

  • Partnering with Product Managers, Data & Analytics Solution Architects, and the broader IT & D&A teams to drive scalable data solutions for Decision and Action by our business partners.

  • Depth of competency and data capability knowledgeable in Data Architecture that interconnects with the critical points of Data ingestion, curation, governance, analytical data hierarchies, data quality and data commercialization & democratization.

  • Strength in efficiently understanding user requirements, needs, objectives and working methods in order to design optimal data structures that will deliver benefits in how the user consumes the data. This individual will connect application needs, process workflow and user experience to data architecture, structures and models in an optimized way.

  • Client service mindset – achieving high quality standards through self and team deliverables.

  • Partner as required with IT Commercial services team to collaborate on Quality and Governance needs and solutions.

  • Design data quality solutions that support and deliver capability that is aligned to and enforces Data governance.

  • The candidate will be capable of leading a team of junior Data Quality Analysts to ensure implementation of the appropriate solutions for success in meeting business needs and technical delivery towards those needs.

  • Upskill existing talent & staff the gap areas for the DnA Operating Model

  • Drive Enterprise Data Governance & Data quality principles and standardization to support the lifecycle of data quality for data structures and data relationships that support business questions, decisions and actions – across functional needs with scalable, efficient cost solutions.

  • Partner with IT professionals – driving data governance for high value content across data curation, BI, data cubes, Data science commercialization in partnership with data ingestion, data analysts, visualization, data engineering & data science professionals.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and other legal requirements related to data management.

  • Stay current on emerging data governance and quality trends and technologies.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams within IT and across the business functions to identify critical analytics needs and their corresponding data architecture needs.

  • Collaborate with business & IT leaders to identify opportunities where Governance and Quality solutions support data-driven insights that drive business actions and outcomes.

  • Partner with and collaborate with external vendors or consultants as an extension of IT to ensure successful data systems implementation and integration with existing environment.

  • Partner with peer leads to continuously manage team delivery to project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure timely and high-quality and high adoption data products.

  • Build repeatable processes around data management and execution of data governance and quality products

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in leading Data Governance and Quality solutions as a common practice in a large & complex environment with deep knowledge of data structure design and definition, database schemas, data dictionaries, field mappings, data sensitivity, data security, data flows, process analysis, etc.

  • 10+ years of experience in multiple functional areas that support CPG and/or Retail

  • Implementation experience with Data Governance, Data catalog, Analytics, Semantic Layer, etc. tools.

  • Strong knowledge of all required capabilities to execute a Data and Analytics strategy in an emerging space of maturity for an enterprise

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and deliver results.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment – with a special focus on how data relates to the functional requirements.

  • Build Strong working Executive relationships.

  • Strong written communication and verbal communication skills at Executive and team levels.

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within/ across teams.

  • Skilled in supervising and delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports

  • May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level:(Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

5+ Years of experience required

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Depth of Proactive and Reactive Data Quality experience with approaches & delivery

  • Hands on experience in defining and delivering Data Catalog capabilities

  • Hands on delivery experience in defining and landing Data governance councils

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically, requires the abilty to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may require the ability to lift up to 10lbs.
